Thanksgiving Dinner at STEPdc

The Thanksgiving Season is upon us and STEPdc is asking for your help.

While most of us are trying to find the lowest airfare for the trip home or busy choosing between pumpkin or pecan pie, many in our ParkView community must choose between turkey for Thanksgiving or paying the phone bill. The choice is more often about how to pay the heating bill than how many pies will be on the table.

STEPdc is partnering again with the SHARE food network to provide a holiday meal for a STEPdc family of four for $25. Your contribution will make that happen. Imagine, your donation of $250 could feed ten families!

Additionally, because of poverty, most of our STEPchildren rely on breakfast and lunch at school. Therefore, the holiday vacations present a unique challenge for their families. With an extra $35 donation, we will be able to provide a supplemental food package that includes healthy meat, vegetables and kitchen staples. Your donation of $60 will feed a family for both Thanksgiving, Christmas and the recess from school.

We will be collecting donations at McLean Presbyterian Church and GraceDC through November 22, 2009. Alternatively, you can make your check payable to STEPdc and mail it to P.O. Box 55464 Washington, DC 20040.

Please be generous to help us come alongside the families who need us the most, and we encourage you to forward this message among your friends who are like-minded. When you sit down to your own dinner on Thanksgiving, please remember to pray for the family that you helped feed. Pray that the seeds sown by your compassion will be fruitful and that the Lord will be glorified as a result.
